THE SCREENING PROCESS

Words To Grow offers speech pathology screening assessments onsite at your early childhood centre.

Centre Directors can book in days when a member of our team visits your centre and screens children’s speech and language development.

During the 20 minute screening assessment, a trained professional will interact with children in a fun and engaging activity and administer a quick screening assessment. This will provide a snapshot of each child’s communication development and identify any need for further assessment and/or intervention.

Your centre and each child’s parents will receive a summary of the results within a few days of the screening assessment via email.

ON THE DAY

On the screening day, please have a quiet room available for us to use. It needs to be away from distractions, with a small table and chairs available to administer the screening assessment. For children 1-2 years, we may choose to assess them in their room where it is familiar.

We also require a staff member to be available to bring children to their screening appointment or direct us to the children’s rooms.

Make A Booking

Secure a date in our calendar that works best for you and your centre. We will then email you a document to send out to families about the screening day.

Families can access a separate booking link to book directly with us – saving you precious admin time.

We look forward to visiting your Early Childhood Centre soon!

Why Screen Communication Skills?

Communication is the foundation of social connection and learning. Communication skills that develop in the first five years of life lay the foundation for a child's future.Early identification of speech and language difficulties is important so that children receive early intervention at the most critical time in their development. Research shows that early communication intervention results in better outcomes for children over the course of their lives
